Nagpur: In a daring daylight robbery that has raised serious security concerns, a group of eight armed men barged into a house and looted cash after threatening a minor boy with a knife in the jurisdiction of the Gittikhadan Police Station.
According to police, the incident occurred around 1.20 pm on April 3, 2026, at Plot No. 56, Welcome Society in Dabha area of Nagpur. The complainant, Satish Parmeshwar Gadpayle (53), had left home for work at the time of the incident, while his 17-year-old son Shreyas was alone in the house watching television.
Police said that eight unidentified men arrived at the house in a Swift car and a motorcycle. The accused forcibly entered the residence and confronted the teenager. One of the assailants allegedly threatened the boy with a knife and warned him to hand over the money, saying they would kill him if he resisted.
Frightened by the threat, the minor was forced to reveal the location of the cash kept in the cupboard. The accused then looted Rs 40,000 in cash from the cupboard and fled from the spot, leaving the victim terrified.
Based on the complaint lodged by Gadpayle, the police registered a case under relevant sections 310(2), 311, 312 and 332(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Gittikhadan Police Station.
During the parallel investigation, officers of Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 2 visited the crime scene and began a technical probe. Investigators analysed CCTV footage from the surrounding areas, which helped identify several suspects involved in the robbery.
Acting on the leads, the police laid a trap and detained four accused: Sandeep Bhojraj Thakre (23), a resident of Baba Farid Nagar in Zingabai Takli, Mankapur; Sumit Panjab Uike (23) of Noornagar Mahadula in Koradi; Rishabh Rajkumar Vaishya (24) from Ward No. 3, Koradi; and Nikhil Anand Patil (22) of Nanda, Koradi.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to committing the robbery along with other absconding accomplices as part of a planned conspiracy.
Police have also seized the Swift car used in the crime along with mobile phones, with the total value of the recovered property estimated at Rs 4.20 lakh.
Following the arrests, the accused along with the seized material have been handed over to the Gittikhadan Police Station for further legal action. Police are now searching for the remaining suspects involved in the robbery and continuing their investigation into the case.
