EC to paste photos of criminal candidates outside polling centres during NMC poll

The criminals entering politics is a topic of an unending discussion in India. And with a number of such candidates finding their names in nomination lists in recent civic polls and also in the coming Municipal Corporation and Zilla Parishad elections, the Election Commission has decided to make the criminal candidates “more famous.”

The poll panel has decided to paste photos of criminal candidates outside the polling centres. The move is aimed at providing necessary information about dubious candidates to the voters.

The coming election of Nagpur Municipal Corporation will witness such an exercise on the part of Election Commission.

The move is being seen as the Election Commission flexing its muscles against criminalization of politics. Full details of a criminal candidate will be divulged by the Election Commission itself. Now, the information and photos of criminal candidates will be pasted outside the polling centres. The information will contain “acts” of the criminal candidates.
