Nagpur is fast becoming a den of dark world of criminals who are readily convinced with the fact that whatever they do, they would be able to move out scot free. It’s high time the cops should sound themselves alert to rein over such elements before it goes beyond proportion. The latest incident surfaced at Nyay Mandir, considered a place for justice, where dreaded criminal Maruti Nawwa alias Santosh Walke dared to threaten a mother, whose son was murdered by him, to take back the case or be ready to lose her another son. Nawwa, already facing murder charges, was arrested on Thursday for this threat. The incident took place on the fourth floor of Nyay Mandir on Thursday. Nawwa also offered to pay her money is she agrees to withdraw the case.

Sources said Maruti Nawwa was arrested a few days ago for murdering son of Jyoti Budhbawre. The murder was fall out of a brawl that took place between four-five youths. The brawl turned ugly and Nawwa killed the youth Ashish Ramji Budhbawre after which he was arrested by Dhantoli police. He was presented before court on Thursday wherein he confronted Ashish’s mother Jyoti and threatened her to kill her other son if she does not withdraw her case. He then offered her to pay enough money and asked her to settle the case outside the court premises. Nawwa asked the woman to make the eyewitness lie in the court and make a statement in his favour.

But Jyoti did not consent to his demands and approached the Sadar police to lodge a complaint against Nawwa. Cops have registered an offence under the sections 195 (a), 506 (b) and took Nawwa into their custody.
