Dr. Kavita Rattan honored with Maharashtra Samajbhushan Gaurav Award 2016

PHOTOGRAPH---1Nagpur: Dr. Kavita Rattan, Founder President, Green Vigil Foundation has been awarded the prestigious state level ‘Maharashtra Samajbhushan Gaurav Award 2016’ conferred by Maharashtra Urban and Rural Journalists’ Association for her exceptional contribution to community education, outreach and advocacy initiatives spanning environmental sustainability, climate change, health and animal welfare.

Dr. Rattan has spearheaded many national and international campaigns including the global initiative on water ecosystems in collaboration with WWMC, Water Environment Federation, USA, which conferred on her the “Water Ambassador” award for pioneering work on creating a global database of status of waterbodies. With a strong belief in engaging all key stakeholders Dr. Rattan and her team have conducted more than 150 community engagement programs reaching out to more than 300,000 citizens and helped resolve environmental sustainability challenges often working closely with civic agencies to ensure effective solutions.

Receiving the award, Dr. Rattan shared the success with her team at Green Vigil Foundation which has emerged as a strong champion of the environmental cause in Central India and reiterated the Foundations commitment to resolve critical environmental and human health challenges and work together with civic agencies as empanelled experts on key developmental challenges to provide technical and strategic advice on building smart communities and cities and achieving the United Nations Sustainable development goals with focus on the global threat of human induced climate change impacting human health, agriculture, poverty and sustainable environment.
