Nagpur: A dowry greedy husband, his mother and two other relatives have been booked on the charges of abetting suicide by a young woman on Thursday (Dussehra day).
The young married woman Arti Omdev Daldale (24), around 8.30 am on Thursday, consumed a poisonous substance in her house situated at Plot No. 84, Vitthalnagar in Hudkeshwar area. Arti was rushed to Keshav Hospital. However, she was declared dead at 11.45 am while undergoing treatment. At that time, Hudkeshwar police had registered a case of accidental death and launched a thorough investigation.
The detailed probe revealed that Arti’s husband Omdev Ajabrao Daldale (26), mother-in-law Ramabai Ajabrao Daldale (57), sister-in-law Sharda Namdeo Khadatkar (32) and brother-in-law Chhatrapati Ajabrao Daldale (24) were tormenting her, mentally and physically, for bringing more and more dowry money from her parents. The four accused were torturing Arti despite receiving cash of Rs 5 lakh given by Arti’s mother Muktabai Jayant Chavan (42), resident of Village Khairwada, District Chhindwada (MP). Muktabai had sold her agriculture land for giving the money to the accused. But still, the greedy foursome did not stop harassing Arti and demanded more money. Fed with the torture, Arti decided to take the extreme step on Dussehra day itself and subsequently consumed the poisonous stuff.
Hudkeshwar PSI D M Lakde, based on a complaint filed by Arti’s mother Muktabai Chavan, has registered a case under Sections 306, 34 of IPC against the four accused Omdev Daldale, Ramabai Ajabrao Daldale, Sharda Khadatkar and brother-in-law Chhatrapati Daldale and launched a probe afresh.
