District Collector administers oath to students for mosquito eradication

Nagpur: In a constructive step being taken against mosquito menace, the District Collector Sachin Surve on Friday administered an oath to the students as well as members of teaching and non-teaching staff and all those present that they would put all endeavours to eradicate mosquitoes in their localiites. The oath was read out and repeated as under:

“I, in the capacity of a citizen of Nagpur city, shall, Oct 18, examine accumulated water at my house and take suitable measures to destroy the mosquitoes which lay their eggs on accumulated water for spread of diseases like malaria, dengue and chikungunya, and maintain cleanliness.”

The oath-taking event was organised at Vasantrao Naik Shaskiya Kala va Vigyan Sanstha, Nagpur under the auspices of National Service Scheme’s dengue eradication programme.

Present on the occasion were Sanstha director Dr Bhau Daydar, Dr Late, Thote, Br Bankar and others.

Addressing the students, Collector Surve said, “We ourselves are responsible for growth of mosquitoes, and even the 21st century a single mosquito kills the man, which is a matter of shame for us. Wherever and whenever dirty water is seen it should be cleaned, Students are future of the nation. Therefore, dengue eradication programme should started by students only so that they might make dengue-free India of tomorrow.” He also advised them to keep their house, its premises, streets and vicinity clean in order to keep the nation clean.

He concluded saying, it is all due to taking such measures that the attack of dengue in the city has been thwarted successfully in Nagpur district.
