“Dispute Resolution Scheme” an opportunity for Taxpayers – Ravikumar

Nagpur: Direct Tax Dispute Resolution scheme was introduced by the Finance Act, 2016 by the Finance Minister Arun Jaitly with the aim of reducing pending appeal cases of the Taxpayer & reduce ongoing litigation between the taxpayer and the income tax department. The Tax payers should take the fullest advantage of the scheme & should not miss this golden opportunity, Said D. Ravikumar, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax in a seminar on Dispute Resolution Scheme, organised jointly by the Nagpur Branch of WIRC of ICAI along with The Income Tax Department.

He further informed the members about the various FAQ’s and about the solution to them. He also discussed with the members about their doubts as well as the practical difficulties being faced with regard to the scheme. He appealed the Chartered Accountants to suitably advice their clients and motivate them to take the maximum advantage of the Government Initiatives.

Earlier, Chairman of Nagpur Branch of ICAI, CA. Swapnil Ghate appreciated the Income Tax Department for partnering with ICAI and organising various programs for creating awareness among the members. He added that Chartered Accountants are important link between the Tax Payer as well as the department. Such kind of interaction can help to create a healthy atmosphere which will motivate tax payers to take advantage of the various initiatives taken by the Government.
