Dilip Kumar Discharged From Hospital After Two-Weeks, Nasal Feed to Continue

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar has been in the news much after he was hospitalised on September 5 for uneasiness and breathlessness due to chest infection, which was later diagnosed as pneumonia. The actor was admitted for almost two weeks at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra and following treatment Saira Banu revealed that he is doing much better and recovering.

The 95-year-old actor was diagnosed as suffering from aspiration pneumonia, and he had to be kept under strict observation in the ICU for 72 hours as doctors carried out several tests. He was only allowed to go home on September 16, as stated in a tweet shared by the actor’s friend Faisal Farooqui.

However, even though he is home, according to SpotBoyE the actor still continues to be on nasal feed as a large amount of the food, that he had consumed days before he was admitted to hospital, had entered his lungs. Doctors have advised that he not be given any food orally as yet.

A source further revealed that the actor is also still under medication but he is out of danger and his vital parameters are stable.

Dilip is one of the most respected and talented actors of Hindi cinema, having acted in movies like Naya Daur (1957), Mughal-E-Azam (1960), Ram Aur Shyam (1967), Gunga Jamuna (1961) and Devdas (1955).

The veteran actor, who is popularly known as The Tragedy King, was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1991. He was also a recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Pakistan’s Nishan-e-Imtiaz Award.
