Nagpur: “I didn’t see the two-wheeler was stuck in my car,” said Shubham Tijare, the driver of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno car involved in a shocking incident that unfolded on Thursday night near Rajiv Nagar Square on Wardha Road. Tijare’s car collided with a motorbike and dragged it for several kilometers, resulting in an unsettling scene that has left the community in shock. The incident was captured on video and has since gone viral, showcasing a heart-stopping event that mercifully did not result in fatalities but left witnesses horrified.

The collision involved a speeding Maruti Suzuki Baleno (MH-32/AX-3192) driven by Tijare, which collided with a motorbike heading towards Wardha. The impact forcefully threw the bike’s riders on the roadside, sparing them from grave harm. However, what followed was truly astonishing – Tijare continued driving without stopping, dragging the mangled motorbike for an astonishing 1.1 kilometers, finally coming to a halt near Hotel Pride.

Despite the desperate efforts of other motorcyclists to pursue the reckless driver, Tijare managed to free the twisted bike from his car near Hotel Pride and sped away at full speed towards Wardha. Akash Dahake (27), a Wardha native currently residing in Manish Nagar, sustained minor injuries and was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital by concerned bystanders. Miraculously, his injuries were not severe, and he was discharged after receiving initial medical attention. The second rider emerged from the incident unscathed.

Taking prompt action, the Sonegaon police filed a case against the driver, Shubham Tijare, on charges of rash driving. Authorities swiftly established contact with Tijare and instructed him to present himself at the police station for questioning. Tijare cooperated and appeared at the station on Friday morning, leading to the official filing of charges against him. Tijare, hailing from Hinganghat in the Wardha district, now faces legal consequences.

In a baffling development, Tijare has claimed ignorance regarding the motorbike stuck to his car. According to his statement, he misunderstood the sounds of the collision as indications of damage to his own vehicle. Surprisingly, he remained unaware of the group of motorcyclists chasing him, recording the incident, and urging him to halt.
