New Delhi: In a startling revelation, it has come to light that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the then Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had virtually sealed a deal on Jammu and Kashmir in their secret talks.  As per a report in the Indian express, a senior Indian diplomat has claimed that former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Pakistan’ army chief turned president Pervez Musharraf had worked out a draft framework agreement on Jammu and Kashmir in secret talks.

The diplomat added that the unsigned documents exchanged between India and Pakistan was personally handed over to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by Dr Singh on May 27, 2014.

Interestingly, former Pakistan foreign minister Khurshid Kasuri recent book ‘Neither a Hawk Nor a Dove’ also, reportedly, quotes General Musharraf as saying that the secret agreement on Kashmir talked about a joint management of the state by India and Pakistan – after demilitarisation of the territory.

The agreement also entailed a consultative mechanism involving elected representatives of the governments of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, as well as officials of the two national governments.
