Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) administration took all the effort to remain on top in Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign and where ever the central team went the places appeared spic and span. All efforts were to get the funds but only to be misused. The moment the central team left the NMC administration turned ist back towards cleanliness movement. After waiting for a month, the Dham residents who come under ward no 11 finally burnt the container overflowing with garbage it was still burning till morning. The work of collecting garbage is of Karnak and here it has been prohibited from collecting garbage. Yesterday evening, the atmosphere of in Prabhag 11 was like Bhandewadi. The whole atmosphere was polluted.
Misuse of funds for earning
The above-mentioned Dham is an encroachment. It has been in place of approximately 8 layouts and their plot holders are there since 2009. The settler of this encroachment is in prison. Cleaning gauranteed if officials paid
The said area belongs to the Tuesday Zone. Health officer Bokre, in-charge of this zone, officer Harish Raut, his assistant Roshan Nanetkar are with the department from years. These three do not listen to the head. The sources alleged that the cleaning is only done if there is a guaranteed cash benefit. Even from the sanitary workers also there is a monthly demand and those who do not fulfill their demands are made to sit at home or are tortured by giving extra responsibility. Harish Raut’s antagonism was disclosed by an officer when he was not a municipal officer, then on the instructions of former commissioner Shravan Hardik, the case of material transportation of theft was registered against Raut. Raut was transferred but he managed to get his transfer stopped. It is alleged there is a demand of Rs 8000 monthly for regular cleaning in this areas.
Free water given to slum
Some people had spent there hard earning to get the plots in Tuesday Zone but the land mafia managed to grab the plots. But presently he is in jail for illegal settlement. The district administration has given half a dozen community tap connection to the encroachers. There is water all 24 hours and from here the connection is given for community toilets. The people here have been wasting nearly 25 to 30 percent water here.
Illegal trades flourishing
