Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis lauded the North Indians and other states people staying Mumbai but the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) of Raj Thackeray quickly condemned him. Fadnavis said, the commercial capital of this country has given place to many outsiders to stay and they have contributed to raise its status.

He was speaking at public programme organised in Ghatkopar. He said that he believes that the things which make Mumbai great among them are the people coming from various states and staying here

When we talk of Mumbai and Maharashtra immediately the eyes turn towards North Indians, Fadnavis said. He said that this city has given shelter to many people and they have always preserved the status of this city.

Criticising the speech of Chief Minister, MNS leader Nitin Desai said that whatever Fadnavis has said is purely from the point of votes as he knows he can get from Mumbai people, farmers and Maharashtrians but is bothered about them others.

Sardesai is of the opinion that the CM praised the North Indian only for their votes. He further said that Mumbai and Maharashtra have always been great there is no need for the other people to come and make it great. The north Indians have come here for their livelihood as there is no development in their states and so in what way are they making Mumbai great, he asked.
