Nagpur: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, appeared before a court here on Saturday to address an application seeking action against him for alleged non-disclosure of criminal cases in his election affidavit back in 2014.
Civil Judge V A Deshmukh recorded Fadnavis’s statement after which the court heard final arguments in the matter. The next hearing of this matter is scheduled on May 6.
Advocate Satish Ukey had filed the application, accusing Fadnavis of not disclosing criminal cases of cheating and forgery that were registered against him in 1996 and 1998 in his poll affidavit before the 2014 assembly elections.
It is important to note that Ukey is currently in jail after being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on charges of money laundering.
This development has garnered significant attention and raised concerns regarding the non-disclosure of criminal cases by candidates in election affidavits.
The matter remains under scrutiny, and further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
