Rohtak: The CBI court which sentenced Gurmeet Ram Rahim, chief of the Dera Sacha Sauda, has clarified that he has been sentenced to 20 years and not 10 years to prison.

The court said that he will have to serve two 10 year terms in 2 rape case convictions and the Dera chief will also have to pay a fine of Rs 15 lakh in each case.

Earlier at his sentencing, Ram Rahim broke down and asked for forgiveness with folded hands when the sentence was read out.

Ram Rahim was found guilty of rape in a case that stemmed from an anonymous written complaint in April 2002 that he had sexually exploited two female followers. The case was registered by the CBI in December 2002 on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court.
