Delhi University student involved in Naxal activities: Patil

Nagpur News : Home Minister R R Patil, on Thursday, informed about the involvement of a Delhi university student Hem Keshavdutta Mishra in the Naxal activities. Patil was answering to a question about development in this case.

Patil said that Hem Mishra and two others were arrested by Gadchiroli police on August 28this year from the forests near Morewada. Police gathered important information from Hem and others after which police started inspecting the suspected four four-wheeler vehicles. On this basis, Prashant Rahi alias NB Sanglikar of Uttarakhand and Prasad alias Vijay Nanteerki from Chhattisgarh were arrested On September 2 and some crucial documents and Naxal related material were recovered from them. It was learnt during the interrogation that the four were on their way to meet the General Secretary of CPI Maoists Group.

Patil informed that Prashant Rahi was an active Naxal member and was working as a couriers for Maoists of Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Gadchiroli. He had connections with the Delhi University student Hem Mishra.

It was revealed during the interrogation with Prashant and Hem that a professor from Ramlal Anand College under Delhi University might have strong connections with the Naxals. A raid was conducted at the professor’s house in which computer, hard disk, laptop, mobile phones and other suspected Naxal related materials were recovered.

The seized materials have been sent to laboratory for further information, Patil concluded. He further added that this professor was an active member of the Revolutionary Democratic Front (Maoist group). The professor had strong connections with Naxal-Maois Group’s General Secretart and some absconding Naxal leaders.
