Nagpur: Just a day after the world celebrated ‘International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples’ to promote and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population, more than one hundred students of ‘Maana Jamaat’ tribal community, shaved their heads in protest. They were protesting against the delay in issuing of caste certificates to them.

As is being alleged by students of the community, they are not being granted their caste certificates for a really long time now. However, no step has been taken to accelerate the grant. The students, in number of thousands, thus, protested at the Samvidhan Square and appealed to Chief Minister, Central Minister, Councilor and other administrative authorities to bring a pace in the matter.

The students are demanding an immediate action in the issue and issuance of certificates to them as soon as possible. They have added that strict and firm steps must be taken against the officials who are involved in gratuitous delay of the certificates. Demands for granting them their rights and scholarships were also raised in the protest.
Around ten thousand students of the community from Nagpur and nearby cities were present at the sturdy protest.
