Dead Palm trees on road dividers to greet CM and ministers

deadtreeNagpur: Our Nagpur city’s civic administration Nagpur Municipal Corporation will do practically anything to please our Chief Minister. They can plant trees on road dividers which can never even support bigger plants. The existing plants do not even get watered in the summer season.

Magic! Abracadabra!
NMC can perform magic. How else do you think that trees grow overnight on the Road Dividers? The problem is not the trees being planted. The way the Palm Trees were uprooted (without the roots) and replanted on the road dividers, they may soon die. What’s more, they may collapse when the CM’s motorcade or even the citizens are passing that way. The Palm Trees could fall down and block the smooth flow of the vehicular traffic. Why this in-flora (like in-human) attitude of the civic authorities?

Yes! Green city is welcome!
Of course we all want to project our city as a Green City, but the manner in which a show-off of artificial (fake) greenery is projected is irritating. One who lives in the city knows how the plants and the shrubs dry-up and die. The civic authorities do not even bother to water these plants. With a deep pain of the dying plants, some contractor collected water and on his own expense had started the watering operations. Thanks to him, many parts of road dividers in Civil Lines area wear a green look.

Come Winter Session and some parts of the city get a facelift. Road dividers are re-painted; directional marks on the road wear a fresh paint and look. Most buildings where the Ministers, MLAs and the government staff will reside for the next sixteen days are repainted, refurbished etc. The Civil Lines looks like a mini fortress. The citizens have to face a lot of hassles because of the diversions effected by Security Personnel.
