The Zone-4 Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishu Sindhu cracked a whip on unruly beer bars of Nagpur city that were found open far beyond permissible time limit and were crowded by anti-social elements. The DCP raided some of the errant beer bars in North Nagpur and carried out challan action sending tremors across the city. The message is clear. Mend ways or face action.

The Zone-4 DCP Sindhu was flooded with complaints from residents of North Nagpur that some beer bars, namely Gamdoor Beer Bar and Restaurant, Kashmira Beer Bar and Restaurant and others, were running till late night and were frequented by anti-social elements who posed a potential hazard to residents of areas. On the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, DCP Sindhu was on night round in Teka area. At about 0200 hours, the DCP received information that Gamdoor Beer Bar, Kashmira Beer Bar and other bars were open and noisy parties were being enjoyed by drunkards. Without wasting time, the DCP Sindhu and a team of policemen raided the Gamdoor Beer Bar and initiated Challan action. The DCP also put Rana, the owner of Gamdoor Beer Bar, on notice and warned of strictest action if the bar is found open beyond permissible time limit again.

Rana, the owner of the bar, having strong political connections, previously had succeeded in shooing away policemen who tried to take action against his beer bar. Incidentally, Police Inspector of Pachpaoli Police Station Khobragade was transferred to other Police Station yesterday only. Rana had “managed” the police staff of Pachpaoli and thus evaded any action against his Gamdoor Beer Bar. But this time Rana developed cold feet when the DCP Sindhu himself was leading the raid and Challan action.

Similarly, Kashmira Beer Bar and Restaurant was also raided and challaned for violating the law.
