Nagpur:
There being as many as 300 houses in dilapidated condition in the city, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation administration has served notices to their dwellers, cautioning them of danger to their lives, and notifying them to immediately vacate them and move to safer dwellings to live in.

The NMC serves notices to the dwellers of dilapidated houses before raining season. The NMC is particular about such houses considering the incidents of building-collapse in Mumbai and Thane recently in which certain lives were lost. The NMC has asked its zonal offices to prepare the list of such dilapidated houses. In Dhantoli locality such houses are about 50 and all of them have been served caution notices by NMC. Many houses among them are more than 100 years old.

More such houses are there in Gandhibagh, Satranjipura and Lakadganj areas. Satranjipura has 19 such houses while Laxminagar has minimum number of such houses, only 2 in number, as informed by zonal officer Mahesh Marone, and the NMC is going to demolish them soon. Nehrunagar Zone had 35 dilapidated houses of which 27 have been demolished.
Similarly, Model Mill chawls, near ST Bus Stand, have gone dilapidated, as has been declared years ago, yet the dwellers are not willing to leave them, said NMC officials.
