Nagpur: In a promising development for sickle cell patients, Daga Hospital is set to inaugurate an amniotic fluid testing center in the near future. Dr. Seema Parvekar, the Medical Superintendent of Daga Hospital, disclosed that although funds were allocated for this purpose, the establishment of the testing center faced delays.
However, following persistent efforts by the Sickle Cell Society of India (SCI), an appeal was made to the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights to expedite the process.
In a recent hearing, held on February 7, the commission granted permission for the center to commence operations. Representing SCI before the commission were Jaya Ramteke, Neelkanth Pandey, Sanjeev Gajbhiye, and Priti Nagar. This development marks a significant step forward in providing better care and support for sickle cell patients, underscoring the collaborative efforts between medical institutions and advocacy groups.
