Curious twist: 2 persons thrash man in his house in Sonegaon, cops book victim for rape

Nagpur: In a curious incident, two persons stormed the house of a man in Sonegaon police area and thrashed him severely after creating a ruckus on Thursday, December 16 night. Later, giving a twist to the incident, cops booked the victim man on the charges of raping a 29-year old woman promising her with marriage. The has also been booked under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

According to police, a resident of Plot No. 119, Shriram Nagar, Wathoda, Arti Ramkumar Bandewar (37) was at her brother Rakesh Shabulal Bandewar’s house at Laxmi Vihar Apartment in Sonegaon. Arti told police that around 9 pm on Thursday, December 16, an unidentified 30-year-old man and his one accomplice stormed her brother’s home and started throwing household things. The two men also heckled her and pushed her on the ground. When her brother Rakesh tried to intervene, he was bashed up severely and injured.

Sonegaon ASI Sheshrao, acting on Arti’s complaint, booked the two unidentified men under Sections 324, 452, 34 of the IPC and started a probe.

However, in a bizarre turn of events, Sonegaon police booked Rakesh Shabulal Bandewar (30) on the charges of raping a 29-year old woman on the promise of marrying her. The accused Rakesh Bandewar allegedly exploited the woman sexually between March 2018 and December 16, 2021 on the pretext of marriage.

Sonegaon ASI Dudhkavale registered a case under Section 376(2)(N) of the IPC read with Section 3(1)(R)(W) of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the accused Rakesh Bandewar. Further probe is underway.
