CSI holds Left Main Concalve

Cardiological Society of India, (CSI) Vidarbha Chapter held a CME Programme “Left Main Concalve” receny at Hotel Radisson Blu, Wardha road Nagpur.

At the outset, President CSI, Dr. Ram Ghodeswar, made opening welcome speech. He informed that when blockages develop in Left Main Coronary artery, fatal heart attack is the concern and need urgent attention. Challenge is when the blockage is at bifurcation and have osteal lesions (Near the mouth of a vessel branch) and are hard to open by balloon angioplasty and stenting. Sometimes the outcome may not be as desired and action is required to be quick as time is against. Various stents are now in market to tackle this situation and expertise to deploy them has to be mastered.

Dr. Imad Sheilban, renowned interventional cardiologist, from Egypt was the key note speaker who highlighted “Problems and challenges faced with Left Main Coronary angioplasty interventions” He also gave analytical comparison of angioplasty vs bypass surgery quoting various trials and underlined indications and contraindications of both and when nothing can salvage the situation.

Later Dr. Ram Ghodewar, Dr. Jaspal Arneja, Dr. Pankaj Harkut showed their critical cases and how successfully they were managed and challenges encounterd, and aroused wide discussion and expert comments from Foreign dignitary Dr. Imad Sheiban.

Anand Gupta of Medtronics, India threw light on “Stent design impact on Left Main Bifurcation – An insight from bench test data” and spectrum of stents in different situations. Dr. Mukund Deshpande, Dr. Nitin Tiwari, Dr. Aziz Khan, Dr. Prashant JAgtap, Dr. Pramod Mundra Dr. Mahesh Fulwani charied the sessions. Dr. Pankaj Harkut Secretary, proposed the vote of thanks. It was largely attended by city’s cardiologists and interventional cardiologists, P.G. Students etc. in large numbers.
