CR’s Nagpur Division mops up Rs 1.41 crore from ticketless travel

Nagpur: The Nagpur Division of Central Railways has mopped up Rs 1.41 crore by cracking down on ticketless or unauthorised travel and carrying luggage without booking in the month of April 2017. A total of 32,156 cases were booked and an amount of Rs 1,41,78, 120 was recovered by way of fines and penalties as against 28,984 cases and recovery of Rs 1,41,71,393 during the same period in April 2017, an increase of 10.94 and 0.05 percent.

In April 2017, railway officials booked 8472 cases of ticketless travel and recovered Rs 44.08 lakh as against 8126 cases and recovery of Rs 42.50 lakh in April 2016. Similarly, 20,034 cases of unauthorised travel were found in April 2017 which is 7.66 percent higher as compared to 18,607 cases in April 2016. At the same time, 3650 cases of carrying luggage without booking were registered and Rs 3.71 lakh were recovered which is 62.29 and 37.17 percent higher as compared to 2249 cases and recovery of Rs 2.70 lakh respectively in the corresponding period of April 2016.
