Criminal involved in waylaying arrested, cash recovered

On August 7, 2014, the complainant, Mahadev Kashiram Bharade on the orders of his employer, owner of Aditya Hotel, Dhantoli was carrying cash of Rs 3,13,000/ in dickey of his Mahindra Duro, MH 31/ED/0425, from Ganjakhet to Dhantoli. When the complainant reached Nagpur Municipal Corporation bridge, Anand Talkies Road, an unknown person on his Honda Activa, MH 31/DJ/5937 obstructed him by throwing chilli powder at him. This forced the complainant to stop as he could not see anything. Immediately the unknown person beat him and snatched his vehicle with cash. The Honda Activa, the miscreant was riding was abandoned there only. The Dhantoli police had registered case under section 394 of IPC. Police inspector, Shailesh Sankhe was given charge of the case.

From the description and modus operandi, police concentrated their attention on one Nitin and tried to trace him at Paoni, Bhandara and Butibori.

On August 13 police got information that Nitin is in Koradi-Mankapur area. Therefore, a trap was laid at Mankapur by police squad consisting of police inspector, Shailesh Sankhe, Dadaram Karande, police constable, Jayant Shambharkar, Nitin Jawlekar.

In the operation Nitin Sundarlal Rahate, 23, was arrested. On being interrogated he confessed to his involvement in the crime and a cash of Rs 2,44,550/ , stolen Mahindra Duro was recovered from him. Police are confident of recovering remaining cash. It is also likely that the accused has committed more crimes in Nagpur.

The operation was handled under guidance of DCP, Ishu Sindhu, Ajani area ACP, Thakur by police inspector, Shailesh Sankhe, Dadaram Karande, Namrata Jadhav, Chitra Mesare, police constable, Jayant Shambarkar, Nitin Jawlekar, Bhaiya Dehankar, Mahadeo Thote, Sanjay Wadate and Vishal Thakur.
