Nagpur: “The crime rate in Second Capital City of Nagpur has come down substantially,” declared the Commissioner of Police S P Yadav while briefing media persons at Police Gymkhana here on Wednesday.
“This year has witnessed decline in rape cases, chain-snatchings, murders and other crimes of all natures,” stated the Police Commissioner.
The top cop further said that a total of 712 CCTV more cameras are going to be installed at vantage points across the city. These include 193 in Zone 1, 151 in Zone 2, 208 in Zone 3 and 149 in Zone 4. The ‘All Ready’ CCTV cameras already installed at various important places such as Railway Station, Courts, Deekshabhoomi, Airport etc would be linked to ‘CCTV Control Room’ in order to have better surveillance and course of action. A transparent tendering will be done for acquiring CCTVs and their installation. The Nagpur CCTV Control Room will be far more advanced than the ones in Mumbai and Pune. In fact, the Nagpur CCTV Control Room will be on the lines of state-of-the-art Hong Kong CCTV Control Room,” asserted the Commissioner of Police.
Heaping praise on Traffic Department, the CP Yadav said that the department broke record of outstanding job done 10 years back. Apart from other vital actions, the Traffic Department cracked down of drunk driving by bringing hundreds of offenders to the book. “In the coming days, the violators of traffic rules would face e-challans. All the licenses of vehicle users would go online. The licenses of repeat offenders would summarily be cancelled in future,” warned the Commissioner of Police.
“The Police Force of Nagpur is getting equipped with latest technology and is gearing up to face newer and newer challenges on all fronts,” announced the top cop.
