Crime Branch Solves 7 Bike Theft Cases, Recovers Vehicles Worth ₹4.30 Lakh in Nagpur

Nagpur: The Crime Branch’s Vehicle Theft Detection Unit has successfully solved seven vehicle theft cases and recovered motorcycles worth ₹4.30 lakh in a major breakthrough. The investigation began with a theft reported on February 11, 2024, by complainant Sanjay Vasudev Hurde, who reported that his Splendor motorcycle (MH-31 BW-8782) was stolen from outside his aunt’s residence in Shri Krishna Nagar, Nandanvan. A case under Section 379 of the IPC was registered at Nandanvan Police Station.

During parallel investigation, the Vehicle Theft Detection Squad detained Rahul Sukhdev Thakre, a resident of Pachzopda, Kalamna, based on confidential inputs. During interrogation, he confessed to stealing the Splendor motorcycle. Further questioning revealed that Rahul, along with co-accused Dinesh Thakre of Satner, Betul district, was involved in a series of motorcycle thefts across Nagpur and neighboring districts.

The accused admitted to stealing a total of seven motorcycles, including Honda Passion (MH 31 CX 6441), Splendor (MH 31 ED 7033), Dream Yuga (MH 27 BC 9926), Honda Deluxe (MH 40 BD 7532), Honda Shine (MH 40 BW 3937), Splendor Plus (MH 36 Y 1327), and another Splendor (MH 40 BW 3534). Police also recovered three mobile phones from the accused. The total value of the recovered vehicles and items stands at ₹4,30,000. The arrested accused has been handed over to Nandanvan Police Station for further action, while the search for the absconding co-accused is ongoing.

This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP Abhijeet Patil, with officers and staff from the Vehicle Theft Detection Unit leading the investigation.
