Crime Branch rescues two missing minor girls in separate cases from Nagpur

Nagpur: In two separate cases, Nagpur Police’s Crime Branch and the Anti-Human Trafficking Prevention Unit (AHTU) successfully traced and rescued two minor girls who had gone missing from different areas of the city. Both girls were safely recovered on November 5, 2025, following coordinated search operations based on specific intelligence inputs.

In the first case, a 35-year-old resident of the Nandanvan Police Station area had lodged a complaint after his minor daughter went missing from home around 11 am on December 10, 2023, without informing anyone. When the girl did not return, her family launched a search but could not find her. Police registered a case under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abduction.

During a parallel investigation, the Crime Branch and AHTU officials received credible information and found the missing girl at Nagpur Railway Station. She was taken into custody, counselled, and later handed over to Nandanvan Police for further action.

In the second case, a 45-year-old man from the Yashodharanagar Police Station area reported that his minor daughter had left home without informing anyone around 7 am on July 11, 2025 and did not return. Despite efforts, the family failed to trace her. A case under Section 137(2) of the BNS was registered. Acting on reliable inputs, the Crime Branch team traced the girl to the Sant Gadge Baba Hall, Binaki Mangalwari area. She was taken into custody, questioned, counselled, and subsequently handed over to Yashodharanagar Police for further legal proceedings.

This successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijeet Patil.

The team comprised Woman PI Lalita Todase, ASI Shyam Anguthelwar, police constables Sunil Wakde, Sachin Shrirame, Vilas Chinchulkar, Rishikesh Dumre, and Woman Constable Pallavi Wanjari.
