Crime Branch busts gang of drug peddlers in city , 2 arrested, stuff worth Rs 3 lakh seized

In a well-planned operation, Crime Branch of Nagpur Police has busted a gang of drug peddlers and arrested two members of it on Tuesday (July 15).
According to police, constable Kishore Mahant and constable Datta Ghugal of the Crime Branch had received a tip-off that some drug dealers are likely to come to city from other state for selling the stuff. Accordingly, a team of officials and other staff of Crime Branch laid a trap from Ganeshpeth Bus Stand Square to Gandhisagar Lake to Mahal and positioned themselves on the route for an ambush. After a while, two persons of specific description arrived near Ganesh Mandir at Gandhisagar Lake (Shukrawari Talao) and were hurriedly looking for customers. But later tried to make a hasty retreat from the spot. At the same time, the team of Crime Branch sleuths surrounded the drug peddlers and caught hold of them before they could succeed in escaping the spot.
During the questioning, the two drug peddlers identified themselves as Mohammed Nasir Mohd Shabir Nilgar (38), native of Javra, Ratlam District (Madhya Pradesh) and Sheru Shah Kalekhan Shah (35), native of Javra, Ratlam District (Madhya Pradesh). A frisking led to seizer of 317 gram brown sugar worth Rs 3,17,000, Rs 1100 in cash and two mobile phones from their possession. The narcotic stuff was brought from Madhya Pradesh for business in city.
An offence under Sections 21, 29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against both the accused at Ganeshpeth Police Station.
The operation was carried out by Police Inspector Panditrao Sonavane, PSI Ashok Hirulkar, APSI Mushtaq Sheikh, constables Ganesh Ladhe, Gajanan Thakur, Kishore Mahant, Datta Ghugal, Ganesh Ghughulkar, Nitin Rangne, Rajesh Dubey, Naresh Shingne under the guidance of Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Saxena, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sunil Kolhe, and ACP Nilesh Raut.
