Covid-19 at VNIT: College authorities are compelling us to leave, allege students

Nagpur: The students of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) have levelled up some serious allegations against college authorities that the later are compelling students to vacant their hostel and leave for their native place, after couple of college students were tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) here on Friday.

It is pertinent to mention that couple of VNIT students were reportedly tested positive for novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) here on Friday. The students were reportedly come to Nagpur from their native place for offline classes which was scheduled to start from January 3, 2022. On arrival, the students underwent RT-PCR tests as a precautionary measure. During the same, at least couple of students was reportedly tested positive for the virus borne disease. While the students diagnosed with Covid-19 are asymptomatic, their close contacts have been advised to self isolate at their respective hostel themselves.

Consequently, the college administration decided to switch to online mode of teaching until February 18, 2022, a notice issued by Dean informed students on Friday. The college administration has also urged students to avoid thronging to the VNIT campus in Nagpur, instead join online classes from their native place.

However, the students who have already arrived to campus are subjected to inhuman treatment, they have alleged. The administration is forcing us to leave and even refused enter some of our batch-mates on arrival, they contended.
