Couple cheats Union Bank of Rs 72 lakh in dubious property deal

A husband-wife duo, in a well-planned conspiracy, not only cheated a man in a property deal but also duped a nationalised bank to the tune of Rs 72 lakh.
The accused couple Erampalli V S Raju and Surevetla Erampalli Raju, both residents of Plot No. 41, Leela House, North Ambajhari Road, mortgaged their Duplex Bungalow No. 707/708 of Ms/ Leela Architect Pvt Ltd with Union Bank, Ghat Road Branch and procured a loan of Rs 72 lakh from the bank on 17.8.2011. The accused con couple did not return the loan to the bank. In the meanwhile, accused allegedly forged documents and sold the same mortgaged Duplex bungalow to Shrikunal Patni. Thus the accused fraudster couple duped the Union Bank to the tune of Rs 72 lakh.
Ganeshpeth API S N Dhobde, based on a complaint lodged by the Bank Manager Milind Narendra Joshi (51) of Vanjari Nagar, has booked the accused Erampalli V S Raju and Surevetla Erampalli Raju under Sections 420, 409, 34 of IPC and launched a probe into the matter.
