Couple arrested for duping youth of Rs 19 lakh by promising him a job abroad

Nagpur: Gittikhadan police arrested a couple on the charges of cheating a job-seeking youth to the tune of Rs 19 lakh by promising him a job abroad. Cops are searching for other accused. The couple, absconding since the past two years, was nabbed from Pune.

The complainant , Sarang Vilas Bhajni (28), resident of Jai Bajrang Coop Housing Society, Seminary Hills, told police that he was approached by the accused Rohit Pashupati Das (33), Taniya Rohit Das alias Taniya Shah (32), both residents of 502/A, Splendour Apartment, Hyderabad. The accused couple lured Sarang with a job abroad. The couple, originally hailing from Kolkata, in connivance with other accused namely Avitit Halder and others promised Sarang a lucrative job in a foreign country.

With this promise the accused couple and others usurped Rs 19 lakh from Sarang between December 19 2013 and June 2015. The accused handed over a bogus appointment letter to Sarang as well. However, Sarang neither got the job abroad nor his money returned by the accused couple. In fact, the husband-wife duo absconded after receiving the huge money from Sarang.

The duped Sarang registered a case against the accused with Gittikhadan police. After receiving the complaint, cops mounted a search of Rohit Pashupati Das and Taniya Rohit Das alias Taniya Shah. Finally, after two years of hot trail, the accused couple was nabbed from Pune where they were spending a lavish life at the cost of Sarang. Other accused are being hunted by the cops.
