Nagpur: In what could be termed as passing the buck and utopian futuristic faith, Corporator of Dharampeth area is alleged to have said that a commercial complex is coming up on the place where the vegetable market exists in Gokulpeth area.
For the past many years, the shopkeepers, vendors selling vegetables have been complaining of the foul smell and on more than one occasion, the gutter water overflows onto the road.
The path to the main vegetable market, fish market and mutton market too is in deplorable condition. With no option left, the vendors selling vegetables, fish etc have to sit near the over-flowing gutter man-hole and sell fishes. The stench of the gutter water is enough to make any person puke. How very unhygienic, yet they have no options left but to sit on the place that they have been sitting for years together. The fish monger sits very close to the gutter man-hole. On many occasions the live fish that he sells falls into the filthy water. He just washes it and sells it off.
Corporator’s big dreams!
Corporator of the area Parinay Fuke was asked about the solution to this nagging problem of overflowing gutter at various places in Gokulpeth Market, at this the Corporator told Nagpur Today that the entire gutter-line is pre-historic and is broken at many places. He claimed that a proposal is being mooted to build a commercial complex in the area between Laxmi Bhavan Square and Coffee House Square and the parallel road running on WHC road.
He said that once the construction of the commercial complex begins, all these vendors will have to sit on the road and once built, everybody will be accommodated within the commercial complex. At that time, even the gutter line will be repaired and if need be an entirely new gutter line will be laid.
