Nagpur: On Sunday night, July 10, 2016, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sonegaon S A Tore conducted a raid at gambling den in Sindhi Colony area and arrested eight persons involved in gambling.

The police have seized Rs 41,000 cash and eight mobile phones from the spot.

The accused are identified as Pankaj Wardani, Shyam Chetwani, Satish Verma, Dhiraj Asudani, Santosh Chetwani, Shankar Dewani, Deepak Totwani, Harish Asudani and Sanjay Durwani.

While acting on a tip-off, ACP Tore along with special team of Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station reached the house of Jyoti Sharma in Sindhi Colony and busted the den.

The eight persons were playing cards when the cops entered inside the room. The accused are local residents and were used to playing cards at the spot, claimed sources. Police Sub-Inspector M. A. Shinde and staff of Rana Pratap Nagar Police Station Manoj Joshi, Shankar Kodape, Hemrauj Patil, Ashish Kshirsagar and others were part of the police team.
The police have booked the accused under Section 4 and 5 of Gambling Act. Further investigations are on.
