Cops nab Delhi’s ‘Bunty and Babli’ in Nagpur; SUV, valuables seized

You must have remembered the famous Bunty and Babli, the notorious thieves from the superhit Bollywood flick of the same name. Taking a cue from the movie the two thieves free wheeled their criminal aspirations in the similar fashion but could not escape the long hands of law.
In a major crackdown on Thursday, Hudkeshwar police have arrested a man and a woman allegedly belonging to a gang of thieves from Delhi and seized a Scorpio SUV and ornaments worth Rs 1.25 lakh from their possession. The accused have been identified as Amit Pawar and Priyanka Singh. The gang has been allegedly involved in series of thefts in various localities of Nagpur. The members reportedly targeted locked flats and committed series of thefts that have become nightmare to the cops more recently. Both of them are involved in dozens of burglaries that happened in the recent past in the city, informed DCP Zone 4 Ishu Sindhu in a press conference organised here on Thursday.
Overwhelmed with the achievement the Commissioner of Police has announced reward of Rs 25000 for the raiding police team.
Meanwhile, police got 4 days PCR for both the accused. Cops are suspecting more cases of thefts may tumble out during the remand.
Hudkeshwar police team were on regular patrolling when they spotted the accused in Scorpio. Their activities raised suspicion as they tried to flee on seeing the cops approaching towards them
Both were then nabbed and brought to the police station where they admitted to have committing the crime.
Sources said the accused have been coming to Nagpur quite sometime. They would allegedly commit theft and flee to Delhi, only to return after keeping the stolen articles to safe place. Police said they returned to city three days back. Since then, they allegedly broke loose into apartments under Zaripatka, Ajni, Pratap Nagar, Nandanwan and Wadi police stations. The couple had allegedly bought Scorpio from the money they made through thefts. They bought the vehicle from Gadchiroli to commit the crime. Cops said the gang comprises 3 men and a women who would first enter the house to conduct a recce. Later the men would break the house.
The police party include API Chougle, PC Satish and Nilesh.
