Cops nab 2 road robbers, seize 2 bikes, 13 mobiles

Road Robbers Arrested

: Sitabuldi police, in a well-planned operation, nabbed two road robbers who had committed a number of robberies in different areas in city. Cops have seized two Bajaj Pulsar motorcycles, 13 mobile phones of different brands and other valuables from possession of the two arrested goons. The collective value of seized stuff stands at Rs 2.60 lakh.

The two accused Swarup Naresh Lokhande (24), resident of Plot No. 102, Manish Nagar, Somalwada Square and Ashutosh Babulal Verma (23) of Plot No. 42, Ambedkar Nagar, Ajni, were arrested by Sitabuldi cops on the basis of a complaint lodged by a woman. The woman had told the cops that she along with husband was returning home around 8.30 pm on 6.11.2016 on a two-wheeler. Near Maharashtra Bank ATM in Sitabuldi, the two accused came on their motorcycle and snatched the purse of the woman and sped away. Sitabuldi police at that time had registered an offence 499/16 under Sections 392, 34 of the IPC and hunting the two accused. A team of cops led by PSI Dnyaneshwar Ramnath Kandekar probed the case. After gathering information painstakingly about involvement of the two accused in the crimes, Swarup Naresh Lokhande and Ashutosh Babulal Verma were arrested.

Cops have seized two Bajaj Pulsar 220 motorcycles (MH-31/EW 5304 and MH-31/ET 8736), 13 mobile phones of Samsung, Vivo, Apple, Micromax, Lenovo, HTC and other companies, two silver coins and cash of Rs 12,500. The collective value of seized booty is Rs 2.60 lakh.

The other members of Sitabuldi police team include constables Ajay Kale, Kamalesh Ganer, Atul Chate, Yogesh Ingle, Ankush Ghati,Prakash Rajpalliwar, Rajendra Nagpure, Nitin Dhakate, Vishal Bhatiya, Nitin Shrirame, Prem Patil and Cyber Cell’s police constable Vikram Thakur. The team accomplished the task under the guidance of DCP Zone 2 Rakesh Kalasagar, ACP Kishore Kale, and Senior PI Bandiwar.
