Cops continue crackdown on four-wheeler owners with black glasses, 9377 booked

Police have launched a sustained drive from
 April 3 against the four-wheeler owners on the orders of DCP of Traffic Ashok Tangde in accordance with the directives of Supreme Court.

The four-wheeler owners, who have been found breaking the laws with disregard to Supreme Court directives to remove dark/solar films from glasses of their vehicles continued to face crackdown from Traffic Department of Nagpur Police. Cops have launched a sustained drive against the four-wheeler owners on the orders of DCP of Traffic Ashok Tangde in adherence to the directives of Apex Court.

The day Ashok Tangde took charge as DCP of Traffic, he ordered his men to act tough against the careless vehicle owners who have been found speeding on city streets with tinted glasses despite Supreme Court order. Accordingly, the Traffic cops have booked 9377 guilty vehicle owners during the drive launched from April 3 till today. The drive will continue in the coming days too.  The action is being taken under Section 100(2) of Central Motor Vehicles Act. Police have appealed the four-wheeler owners to get rid of dark/solar glasses in order to avoid stringent action, a press release issue by police said.

As per recent Supreme Court judgment, the use of black films of any VLT (Visual Light Transmission) percentage or any other material upon the safety glasses, windscreens (front and rear) and side glasses of all vehicles throughout India is prohibited. Even though it may have been fit by car vendor or local mechanic, it is illegal and must be removed at the earliest.

The drive is being undertaken by Traffic PI Ajay Sankheshwar, API Jagtap, ASI Rajendra Sarode, ASI Gaidhane, Sachin Tayde and other staff of Traffic Department under the directives of DCP Ashok Tangde.
