The Crime Branch of Nagpur Police on Wednesday busted a sex racket being run at a posh building and rescued a young girl. The woman kingpin behind the racket has been arrested.
According to police, the Crime Branch received a tip-off that flesh trade was being carried out at the posh building B1/2, Rai Town, Hingana Road and the mastermind running the sex racket was Sarika Mahesh Pande (30). The Crime Branch sleuths, before raiding the posh building, first tried to confirm the information by sending a decoy customer. When the decoy customer asked for a girl, Sarika readily agreed to provide a girl within half an hour and demanded Rs 3000 from the customer for the same. Later, Sarika showed some photographs of the girls and asked the customer to choose any one. The decoy customer chose one girl and gave Rs 3000 to Sarika. After receiving money, Sarika reportedly phoned a 27-year old girl residing on Umred Road. As soon as the girl arrived and went to a room in the flat, the customer alerted the waiting Crime Branch sleuths. The cops stormed the building and rescued the girl and also arrested Sarika Pande, resident of same building. Sarika has been forcing the needy young girls into flesh trade by alluring them with handsome money.
The task was carried out by Senior Police Inspector B M Powar, Assistant Police Inspector Sonali Patil, API Amita Jaipurkar, Police Sub-Inspector R N Kohale, APSI Madne, police constables Pandurang Nikure, Subhash Khedkar, Ghanshyam Tiwari, Ajay Ghatol, Sanjay Pandey, Neeta Davre, Nilesh Wadekar, photographer Warhadpande and social worker Shail Jemini under the directives of DCP Sunil Kolhe, and ACP Nilesh Raut.
The accused Sarika Mahesh Pande has been arrested under Sections 3,4,5,7 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act 1956 and offences have been registered against her. Further investigation is in progress.
