Nagpur: Crime Branch busted a 6-member gang involved in looting love couples at knife-point. The gang had targeted several love birds in the recent past.

The nabbed accused have been identified as Preshit Raju Dongre (26), Ejaz Sheikh Ashfaq Sheikh (21) of Shivaji Nagar, MIDC, Ashish Shubham Singh (20), Rohit Vijay Nitnavre (18), Rohit alias Golu Ashok Gaygole (19) and Ashok Ravikant Korekar (26), all residents of Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar. Preshit Dongre is mastermind of the gang. Father of one of the accused is a former police officer.

A team of Crime Branch, led by PI Achal Mudgal, was on patrol duty late Tuesday night. The cops found Ejaz and Preshit loitering in suspicious manner. They immediately detained them and subjected them to intense interrogation. Initially, both tried to mislead the cops by dubious answers but the possession of high-end mobile phones without any job made cops suspicious. The intense grilling further finally worked for cops. The two accused revealed that they had formed a gang and looted several love couples of their valuables in Futala, Ambazari, Seminary Hills and other areas where the love birds would roam and indulge in obscene acts. The victims, wary of defame, hesitated in lodging complaints with police.

With the arrest of the gang members, cops have cracked robbery cases occurred in Gittikhadan and Ambazari police jurisdictions.
