Lakadganj police successfully arrested a chain-snatcher while booked another youth when they escaped after robbing off a woman of her gold ornaments worth Rs 40,000. The incidence, cops said, occurred on Monday night.
As per information, the complainant Geeta Raghunath Aamnekar (40), a resident of Juni Mangalwari, Lakadganj, was returning on foot with her family members after attending a programme. Two motorbike-borne youths came from rear behind the lane at Rahate Hospital, Central Avenue and snatched away a gold chain and mangalsutra worn by Geeta. She raised an alarm and alerted her family members. The thief, identified as Ashish Pramod Bagde (23), a resident of Jai Bhim Chowk, Kamptee, was arrested by Lakadganj police while another youth was booked.
Cops have registered an offence under Sections 392 and 34 of the IPC against Ashish and his mate and launched a hunt for the other thief.
