Coordination among Nagar Parishad office-bearers, babus holds key for resolving people’s problems: Meeta Rajiv Lochan

DSC_0488Nagpur: “Coordination between municipal office-bearers and officials and employees of civic administration and the process of continued discussions hold the key for resolving people’s various problems. Both should strive hard in this context in the coming days,” urged the Principal Secretary and Director of Municipal Administration Meeta Rajiv Lochan while addressing a workshop of Municipal Council Presidents and Chief Executive Officers on Thursday. The workshop is being organized at Bachat Bhavan in city.

The Municipal Administration has decided to review working of Nagar Parishads every two months. Accordingly, the workshop was organized for Presidents and office-bearers of Nagpur Division’s 34 Nagar Parishads. In this workshop, Meeta Rajiv Lochan reviewed in detail the working of Nagar Parishads. Divisional Commissioner Anoop Kumar presided over the workshop.

The Principal Secretary further said that in Nagar Parishads, focus should be on drinking water arrangements, toilet facility and the schemes being implemented by Health Department. The Municipal Councils should draw action plans for holding discussions with various departments of State Government.  The Nagar Parishads should make all out efforts to increase their revenue through various taxes. Focus should be specifically on Property Tax, Water Tax, and unauthorized constructions, said Meeta Rajiv Lochan.

The Divisional Commissioner Anoop Kumar said that the ‘Samadhan Yojana’ being implemented by Revenue Department is also being implemented in Nagar Parishads from today. He also dealt on various other schemes of Nagar Parishads.

 

In the day long workshop, presentations were made on Swaccha Bharat Mission, City Swacchata Campaign, Tax Recovery and Smart City.
