It may be noted that one Larsen and Tubro (L&T) construction company had undertaken the contract of expansion work of 3×660 MW Koradi Super TPS, under which the company had done levelling of a site (some portion of unused land acquired from local farmers) within the vicinity and used all the required material on their own cost, which might be assumed to be in lakhs of rupees. The material included boulders, sinders, sand granuels (murum), metals (gitti), etc.

The hired land was under the possession of L&T Co, till completion of project work, which took three-to-four years. After the company moved out of the contract, the said portion of land was considered to be under ownership of MAHAGENCO, Koradi.

Unfortunately, the petty contractors engaged in various types of construction activities in the MAHAGENCO site are illegally digging the levelled portion of land and lifting the material from there by way of transportation and utilizing it where they want for other construction-works of MAHAGENCO.

It is worth mentioning here that the land of farmers was acquired by electricity company (MAHAGENCO) on a time-bound contract, but it is not returning the land to farmers despite their repeated representations. Such a state of affairs is bringing a bad name to the state energy department, even MAHAGENCO has closed its eyes on the issue.
