Stating that while international price of Crude oil has come down from $115 to $ 51, which amounts to 60% price reduction but in India prices haven’t come down proportionately the Consumer Forum of Mumbai has earnestly requested CM Fadnavis to intervene and bring down prices of food and essential commodities in Maharashtra.
They have pointed out that if not 60% diesel prices in India too have come down 25% in the last 6 months or so yet this benefit to Transporters and traders hasn’t been passed on to the consumer at all. The Forum says that whenever diesel and petrol had become dearer these merchants, traders and shop keepers immediately hiked up prices of all goods – then why haven’t they passed on the benefits of price reduction to people too?
Prices of essential goods ( food grains, vegetables , groceries etc. ) and services are still very high and getting dearer causing a lot of hardship to common people the Forum complains. Whole sellers and traders must be checked and if necessary forced to bring down prices it has been suggested.
