Nagpur: With the clock ticking down for a major happening in which Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi are to appear in a Delhi court in National Herald case, scores of Congress leaders and workers gathered at Devadiya Bhavan, the headquarters of the Nagpur City Congress Committee to protest against Modi Government and rally behind their leaders as well.

The Congressmen accused the BJP-led Government at Centre of pursuing politics of “vendetta” in the National Herald case to “malign” the image of the party and its top leaders. The party men raised slogans in support of their leaders and slammed BJP for following “vendetta politics.”

The gathered leaders said that the Central Government is following a set pattern in targeting Congress leaders under its vendetta politics and added the party will strongly oppose such moves.

congress rasta roko (2)Youth Wing of Congress staged ‘Chakka Jam’ near Chitnavis Park in Mahal area. Earlier, the activists under the leadership of Amar Khanapure, Bunti Shelke, Anil Rai and MLA Sunil Kedar took out a protest padayatra from ST Bus Stand and reached in front of BJP main office near Gandhisagar. They shouted slogans against Central Government and Narendra Modi for vendetta politics in National Herald case. Later the activists reached Devadiya Bhavan where other Congressmen had gathered and held demonstrations. The activists also staged Rasta Roko at Agrasen Square and Golibar Chowk.

The Youth Congress snubbing the police bondobast held demonstrations in front of BJP MLA Vikas Kumbhare and raised anti-Modi slogans. Speaking on the occasion the leaders termed the actions of Modi Government as vendetta against Opposition party. “The Central Government is hatching conspiracies against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and planting false corruption cases against top Congress leaders. If the Government is seeking account in Herald case then what happened to crores and crores of rupees that were collected by RSS and BJP during Ram Temple movement,” asked the leaders.

congress rasta roko (1)Others who participated in the demonstrations include Pravin Pote, Sachin Kirpan, Rajesh Khangare, Shubham Motghare, Firoze Ansari, Fazlur Rehman Quereshi and hundreds of other activists.
