Congress Workers Stage Protest Outside MSEDCL Office in Nagpur

Nagpur: Growing public anger over frequent power outages and load shedding in West Nagpur erupted into a major protest on Monday as Congress workers staged a demonstration outside the office of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), demanding immediate restoration of uninterrupted electricity supply.

The protest was organised in support of residents who have been facing repeated power cuts for the past several days amid scorching summer conditions and rising temperatures.

Holding banners and placards, Congress workers raised slogans against the State Government and the power distribution company, accusing the authorities of failing to ensure basic services during the severe heatwave.

Protesters shouted slogans such as “Stop Load Shedding” and “Restore Regular Power Supply Immediately,” while condemning what they described as poor planning and administrative negligence by the electricity department.

Residents from several localities in West Nagpur have reportedly been facing repeated and prolonged electricity disruptions throughout the day, causing widespread inconvenience.

The protesters said the situation has become unbearable as families are being forced to endure hours without electricity during intense heat and humidity. They alleged that household work, business activities and students’ studies are being severely affected due to the erratic power supply.

Congress workers gathered in large numbers during the agitation and warned the administration of stronger protests if the situation does not improve immediately.

West Nagpur MLA Vikas Thakre launched a sharp attack on MSEDCL, stating that citizens are being subjected to immense hardship because of the department’s failure to manage electricity supply efficiently.

“People in West Nagpur are suffering enormously. There appears to be no proper planning from MSEDCL. In this unbearable heat, citizens are literally struggling to survive. If uninterrupted power supply is not restored immediately, Congress will launch a much larger agitation on the streets,” Thakre warned.

The protest reflects growing public frustration across several parts of Nagpur over recurring outages during one of the harshest summer spells of the season.
