“In the last Assembly elections, the party candidates lost because of mistakes on the part of Congress and some of its leaders. All the lost seats were of Congress stronghold. However, the party has geared up and is in top gear for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party would be strengthened in the city with the cooperation and coordination of all Congress leaders.  My foremost priority would be to ensure no differences remain among party leaders in order to see Congress marching forward in city,” Thakre said.

Nagpur News: The newly appointed Nagpur City Congress Committee (NCCC) President Vikas Thakre, while addressing a press conference at Devadia Bhavan on Tuesday, asserted that a criminal or criminal minded person will never be made office-bearer of Congress and the party fielding such person for any election is impossible. “Party will field clean, efficient and popular leaders in the coming elections,” Thakre said.

“It is the responsibility of the people’s representatives to bring back into main stream whosoever, by mistake, has committed an offence and thereafter repents his or her mistake. And a person who never wants to come out of the crime world then such person has no place in Congress. I, after winning the election from my Ward, succeeded in pulling out the anti-social elements from the crime world by convincing their family members to help me in my efforts. Today, the families are living a happy life. At the same time, I, on behalf of Congress party, declare that no criminal or criminal minded person will be made office-bearer of Congress and the party will never field such person for any election in future,” Vikas Thakre said with confidence writ large on his face.

“In the last Assembly elections, the party candidates lost because of mistakes on the part of Congress and some of its leaders. All the lost seats were of Congress stronghold. However, the party has geared up and is in top gear for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Nothing to worry. The party would be strengthened in the city with the cooperation and coordination of all Congress leaders. The hardworking and meritorious workers would find place in the NCCC Executive. My foremost priority would be to ensure no differences remain among party leaders in order to see Congress marching forward in city,” Thakre said.

“I hope and expect the Congress High Command will consult the party office bearers and workers while deciding candidates to avoid defeat. I appeal the Guardian Minister, other Ministers, MPs, MLAs, NIT Trusties to visit Devadia Bhavan and communicate and subsequently resolve party workers problems so that their moral remain high,” Thakre said. “At present, I will take the present Executive along with me and jump into election battle with full force. And whosoever is found lacking capability, would be thrown out of the Executive. The present Executive does not need any training. All are trained. New office bearers would be appointed in place of Abha Pande and Munna Ojha soon,” the new NCCC President said.

Vikas Thakre, replying to a question over demand for CBI probe into the MP Fund of Nagpur MP Vilas Muttemwar, said that CBI probe should definitely be conducted so that people could know where the MP Fund has been spent.

The press conference was attended by Kamalesh Samarth, Bandopant Tembhurne, Sanjay Dubey, Ajay Hiwarkar and others.
