Nagpur: In a strategic move, Congress party, splintered in many groups, in a show of unity, has decided to contest NMC elections unitedly.The party has commenced interview process of aspiring candidates. The interview process got off to a start at Devadia Bhavan where all the leaders came under one roof in a show of unity.
A heavy rush of candidates aspiring for Congress ticket for NMC poll was seen at Devadia Bhavan and were being interviewed. Senior leaders Vilas Muttemwar, Nitin Raut, Satish Chaturvedi, and Anees Ahmed came together and conducted the interviews.
The party cadre and leaders were sulking following frequent interference in the party affairs by a group led by a senior leader. As a result, two senior leaders – Dr Nitin Raut and Satish Chaturvedi – were conspicuous by their absence in a the party meeting held at Jaffer Nagar recently. The State In-Charge of the party Mohan Prakash and MPCC President Ashok Chavan took note of these leaders’ absence and expressed their displeasure.
However, later Raut and Chaturvedi met Chavan at the airport. Chavan bluntly told them to end their differences and fight unitedly against BJP. On Monday, January 9, aspiring candidates from Prabhags coming under Central and East Nagpur Assembly segments were screened. Senior leader Muttemwar said that Congress will fight against BJP unitedly. “The Congress party’s decisions and ticket distribution will not be done from any leader’s bungalow but it will now be done from party office,” Muttemwar stressed indicating unity among all leaders.
