Nagpur: Congress Corporator from Prabhag 35 Purshottam Hazare will distribute around 400 bicycles to needy school students at a function to be organized in Pardi area on Sunday. Last year, Hazare had distributed 300 bicycles to the needy students of different prabhags. The Sunday’s function will be graced by former Guardian Minister Satish Chaturvedi and City Congress President Vikas Thakre.
Hazare is Congress Corporator since the past 4 years. During these four years, he took up many issues confronting the citizens, took out morchas of people facing day-today problems and highlighted absence of basic amenities in many areas. He raised his voice at many times at NMC’s General Body Meetings but the administration neglected the issues raised by him saying his area comes under Nagpur Improvement Trust.
Despite drawbacks, Hazare succeeded in providing a number of facilities such as city bus services from Pardi to all areas, regularization of unauthorized layouts, development works in these unauthorized layouts from Corporator’s fund, providing jobs, and many more works of people’s interests.
The 400 bicycles of Hero make, purchased at the cost of Rs 15-16 lakh, will be distributed to needy school students, both boys and girls, at the hands of Chaturvedi and Thakre. Many of the poor students have to traverse long distances to reach their schools. But being poor, the students cannot afford bus fares or any other means to reach their schools. The bicycles would come handy in this respect.
