World Nature Conservation day is commemorated on July 28 each year with the intent to increase awareness on conservation of precious natural resources of the planet.  With increasing pressures on these resources & their overexploitation to meet development requirements, this day highlights the importance of judicious use of natural resources and encourages public participation in conservation efforts.

On the occasion, Green Vigil Foundation conducted a citizen outreach program at Futala Lake. The program encouraged citizens to adopt sustainable lifestyles. The event involved scientific discussions with citizens on conservation measures including water and energy conservation, minimising fuel consumption by steps such as car pooling, avoiding use of plastic bags, etc. Green Vigil volunteers interacted with citizens and utilized posters & leaflets to create awareness on wise use of natural resources & also to focus attention on the critical need to conserve our biodiversity & tigers to commemorate Global Tiger day which is celebrated on July 29 each year. The program received good response from citizens.

Dr. Kavita Rattan & Kaustav Chatterjee of Green Vigil Foundation requested citizens to partake in conservation efforts to join the global movement to adopt green living.  The program was ably co-ordinated by Daksha Borkar & Surbhi Jaiswal and supported by Green Vigil team members: Rahul Rathod, Nazma Khan, Kumaresh Tikhadhar, Shubham Yerkhede, Sheetal Choudhary,  Dadarao Mohod & Others.
