Nagpur/Mumbai: A kind gesture by Maharashtra Chief MInister Devendra Fadnavis has landed him in sheer embarrassment when a protesting man, whom he invited to his official residence, turned out to be a molester. The man in question was protesting outside the Mantralaya on Thursday. The state machinery realised — a little too late — that Paramanand Hevalekar and his wife, who had sat on a dharna with a Ganesha idol in front of Mantralaya to seek action against the villagers who had boycotted him, was an absconder.
Reports from Sawantwadi have said that Hevalekar was accused of molesting a neighbour three years ago. When the matter was reported to the police, he absconded. Arrest warrants for the same were pasted on the door of his residence in Mahadevache Karvade village.
Reports said that Paramanand was also reported to the police for writing letters that were in bad taste. Unaware of the allegations, Fadnavis invited the villager and his wife to his official residence Varsha on Thursday morning.
