Nagpur: The city cagers had another fine day in the 75th Maharashtra State Inter-District Senior Basketball Championship for the Chief Minister’s Trophy in progress at various venues across the city, on Tuesday.
While Nagpur women booked a quarter-final spot, the men’s team made it to the pre-quarterfinals. Incidentally, both the teams got the better of their rivals from Latur. In a lop-sided affair, Nagpur women, led by skipper Siya Deodhar (14), Rajvi Maladhari (9) and Devika Thakre (9), were just too good for Latur eves winning 70-7. They dominated all the four quarters 19-3, 17-0, 17-2, 17-2. For the losers, Shivangi Shukla scored three points.

Latur men fared better than their women counterparts but lost to the hosts 49-24. The quarter-wise scores read 15-8, 11-4, 14-8, 9- 7. For Nagpur, Yadunath Yadav top-scored with nine points, Parth Borkute contributed 6 while the duo of Yash Jivtode and Tanuk Gurnule pitched in with an identical score of five each. Latur’s Arnav Reddy impressed one and all with his match high score of 17. On Wednesday:Nagpur men will play their pre quarterfinals against the winner of Beed vs Dhule match, at 7.30 am.
